The Friends of St Andrew’s, Moretonhampstead, was established in 1992 to raise funds to help with the preservation, repair, maintenance, restoration, improvement and ornamentation of the fabric of the Church of St Andrew’s, Moretonhampstead. We also contribute to those expenses relating to the upkeep of the organ and choir, the building and the bells. The Friends is administrated by a Committee and our Acting Chairman is John Mann, the Secretary is Kathy Warner and the Treasurer is Julia Mockett. Committee members include Chris Pilkington, Irene Course and Linda Collier, while the PCC representative is Joe Scaife, a churchwarden.
There are a number of ways you can help us to raise funds for our lovely church – for example, by becoming a member of the Friends or making a donation to the charity. We are currently focusing on raising money to restore the bell tower and the metal bell frame, and until sufficient funds are available for these repairs, sadly, the bells will remain silent.
The cost of membership is (a) Life membership: £100 upwards, (b) Ordinary: £5 upwards per annum, (c) Family (parents and children): £10 upwards per annum, and (d) Corporate, School, Company or Organisation: £25 upwards per annum. Forms can be obtained from Julia Mockett. Donations can be made via the Virgin Money Giving website – see the hyperlink at the end of this article.
Alternatively, you can help by attending one of the events we hold during the year to raise funds for the charity. Details can be found near the date of the event in the News in Moreton and in posters placed around the town including the Community Noticeboard, Information Centre and Church porch noticeboard. Look out for coffee mornings in the Community Centre, or other special events, such as, the Spring Fayre and Dog Show, Open Gardens or Quiz Night.
If you require any further information on membership, donations or this year’s special event, please contact me or a member of the committee. Thank you very much for your support.
